24 Hour Fast 2010

Amma Syncletica once said, "Just as the most bitter medicine drive out poisonous creatures so prayer joined to fasting drives evil thoughts away."

John Calvin, our church father, once said, "whenever men are to pray to God concerning any great matter, it would be expedient to appoint fasting along with prayer. Their sole purpose in this kind of fasting is to render themselves more eager and unencumbered for prayer...with a full stomach our mind is not so lifted up to God."

This Friday night and Saturday morning, we will be participating in our annual 24 hour fast, which begins 1pm on Friday and concludes 1pm on Saturday.

Here are the specifics:

Be at the church Friday night @ 5pm where we will help out our CDO program and an event they are offering until 7pm.

7pm-7:15pm we will have a water break

7:30pm we will have some time for worship

8pm we will watch a movie

10:30pm we will have compline prayer

12am bedtime/lights out

Saturday we will have morning prayer @ 8:30am

We will wake up and head out collecting canned goods from the neighborhood @ 9am

10am we will head to Boulware to drop off the canned goods

10:30am we will study hunger in the world

1pm we will break our fast with communion and a lunch
